Finishing Iceman

What a fun day I had at Iceman!  It was a very exciting race for me.  I took 34th out of 54 people in the Single Speed, over 40 group.  If I would have done a regular Mountain bike (with lots of gears) I would have been 20th out of 73.  So, not to blow my own horn, but I race in a pretty competitive group.  I like single speed biking - It reminds me of younger days, spinning around the block on Oriole Dr.

I took one tumble on my bike, about 1/2 way through the race.  I got caught in some deep sand and went to the side a bit.  Then I had to pick my self up and wade through the sand to get back on my bike.  It sounds dumb, but man that took a lot out of me.

One of the cool things was Shawn was in two places to cheer me on!  She is an awesome support crew and great team photog!  Thanks Shawn! (I'm the second one back in this photo)

Keep the rubber side down cats!

Wow! You did great! Just think what your time would have been if they hadn't put that sand trap there.

This is a great photo, Shawn. I notice everyone in the crowd is looking for someone behind our hero. He must have been leader of the pack at this point.
huffl (these things seem so appropriate.)

Very exciting James! I knew which one was you, you didn't have to point yourself out to your big sisters! You sure look tough, I think I can hear a gr-r-r-r-!

It was a great place to watch because there were several turns before this spot, so you could see your rider coming from quite a long way away. It was a lot of fun. And I'm so proud of him - he is such a good cyclist - such a good athlete! And I was so excited to see him finish because I missed his finish last year.

smorsi!!!
