This past weekend two friends from work, Ben and George, went to Las Vegas for the weekend. We had to make sure it was suitable for a good 'ol fashioned Rathbun wedding. I think it'll be fine ;) . We got into vegas at about 9:30 on friday night, I blew about $50 on slots and roulette. Saturday we hung out by the pool all day, had a few cocktails and met some girls vacationing from the UK. Saturday night I fared a bit better, and won $35 in blackjack. We stayed at Circus Circus, which I think a lot of the film Vegas Vacation was filmed at. It all looked very familiar. I didn't win any cars though...
Sunday we drove out to the Hoover dam, which is just outside the city. It was really neat to experience. We walked all the way across and back, but didn't take any dam tours... They're building a bridge downriver from the dam, it looks like it should be pretty spectacular.
Did you see Mom is an Olympic athlete!?! I saw it on NBC's website, and had to share!

My blog is really jumping from one topic to the next-- I'm really tired, but I thought I should fill you in on recent/future happenings. This saturday I'm flying to Los Angeles to spend some time with Tim and Christen, who's wedding I was in back in may. I also have an interview with a mining engineering consulting firm (norwest corporation) for a full-time job in Vancouver, Canada, so I'll most likely fly from LA to Vancouver after my stay with the newlyweds, and back to Denver (where I'm flying out of originally...), and then driving back to Houghton. Did you catch all that? Theres more... after spending a few days in houghton I'm then taking a trip to Isle Royale to do some backpacking! And then school starts again! Pretty crazy, huh? It should be fun though.
So tired! Time for bed! Love you guys!

Great blog! You have been officially designated as the Rathbun Las Vegas tour guide...by me. Also, you will be the family Black Jack expert, but NOT the slots or roulette expert, yet. Yeah, your schedule is crazy for the next few weeks, but exciting. And, if you forget where you are supposed to be, just refer back to this blog!
Yeah, how about that Shawn Johnson!?!
'I'm in this sport to become the next Shawn Johnson,' Shawn, a public high school student from Iowa, said. 'If I defend my [world] title and make history, it'll be being me, no one else.'
She's my kinda girl!
Good to hear your report Walt! you have a crazy schedule lined up! I can't wait to hear how Vancouver goes.
vpwhzkz!
Has anyone figured out what Jim's "vpwhzkz!" means?
I thought he got word verification before he could post, and he was sharing with us.
Have you ever stayed in so many different places that you wake up and don't know where you are? Hokey Pokey Walt! You are certainly the top happy traveler in this family. You forgot to mention the next trip to Las V. one week after you get back to school. All you news is VERY exciting! Thanks for taking the time to blog! Good Night!!
Shawn, I think the cats out of the bag!
