About 20 friends from church had fun today sewing. This is Elizabeth G. holding a few of the finished dresses.
We used pillow cases, most used, some new, to make these cute sun dresses for little girls who are victims of aids in Africa. We sewed about 80, some with pockets, lace, and ribbons. Does the one in the middle with orange flowers look familiar? It was one of mom and dad's! I brought home 11 to finish sewing the binding and tie (completed while watching the awesome MSU VICTORY!!). We had a pretty good assembly line going. Save those old pillow cases, we'll be at it again soon.

Oh how clever, and a good use for something that may have spent the rest of it's life in a linen closet. Yes, I think I slept on that striped pillow with the orange flowers many times. Great work, Nan. Keep a buzzin'
Very nice Nancy!
Wish I had known you needed pillowcases - my mom and I visited just about every thrift shop between here and Bemidji MN. I always look thru the linens for pillowcases that are embroidered or have crocheted edging. I also look for nice ones that I can make edging for. But I never get the ones that are patterned and there are many of those that can be had for a quarter or two.
EVERY thrift shop?? Oh my goodness!Sounds like great fun being with mom. The pillow case sewing bee was fun, save those old pillow cases. We even take the plain ones and add lace, pockets, or decals. I'll send more pictures.
